🌞 ADMIN UPDATE 🌞
Hi all, can you believe we’ve nearly been on Facebook for 3 months now!
We are learning lots and gathering information from those who have gone before and working within the multitude of food acts etc that we have in Australia.
πŸ₯šπŸ₯šπŸ₯š
Due to a complaint and subsequent instruction from Safe Food Production Qld, we must currently CEASE sharing eggs publicly at the Exchange immediately. Thank you to those who’ve generously shared in the past ❀️

Firstly NO-ONE PANIC – this sounds worse written than it actually is πŸ˜‚
The cliff notes are – use common sense and don’t bring high risk foods.
This is the long version:
AS OF NOW, THE BELOW ITEMS MUST NOT BE LEFT:
πŸ₯š Eggs or egg products (unless cooked in something that is shelf stable)
πŸ₯© Meat or meat products
🐟 Seafood or seafood products
πŸ₯› Dairy or dairy products (unless cooked in something that is shelf stable)
🍯 Raw honey (I’m going to clarify)
πŸŽƒ Cut/halved fresh fruit and veg (leave them whole and intact)
πŸ₯€ Raw squeezed juice that’s unpasteurised
🍚 Cooked foods containing rice
🍝 Cooked foods containing pasta
🫘 Cooked foods containing beans (I’m going to clarify)
🍱 Cooked foods containing tofu (I’m going to clarify)
These are really just the high risk foods which are almost never left – not much will actually change other than the eggs.
There will be an updated FAQ coming in the future which will clearly outline what can and can’t be left at the exchange. We want to see this become a long-lived & loved part of our community and so we’re aiming to make this as safe as possible! Updates will be coming on baked goods, preserves and temperature sensitive foods.
SO WHAT SHOULD WE LEAVE!?

You may be thinking πŸ˜‚ The focus of our Edible Exchange has always been fresh, homegrown produce πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ. Truly there is nothing better! Let’s get those edible plants going, sow seeds & take cuttings! We’ll focus on growing food, education & skill sharing. Let’s keep the food exchange simple & safe! We are also lucky to have our epic library and compost hub 🌻

We know many of you love creating special items for the EHEE, so we encourage you to leave sealed preserves & baked, shelf stable items that are labeled and individually wrapped & sealed, rather than the high risk foods listed above.
Thank you for your kindness as we work all this out on the run. We appreciate you all so much and I know this group will just go from strength to strength ❀️
