the strange contorted logic interests me, sometimes;
- liberalism become fascism
- conservatives oppose racism against “whites”
- Virtue becomes hypocrisy or “virtue signalling”
- language is co-opted and repurposed sometimes to its opposite
I wonder about the motivations
- some is for the lolz and online groups always push toward extreme viewpoints
- it’s an easy way to become famous
- some is to watch the world burn, I think “butthurt” drives
- some of it is that posture of cynicism that keeps them safe
- some is about belonging to a group and how agreeing with absurdity demonstrates commitment (where is that article)
- some is about scapegoating, projecting negatives things of a group that we can punish
..and
- Whenever we create an “us” we create a “them”
There is a core of reality somewhere often as a response to people’s attitudes and actions
- women usually don’t want to sleep with incels for a variety of reasons
- some people are enthusiastic about punishing people who say things against the emerging morality
- human processes often sort into dichotomies while the reality is more nuanced some people are about punishing people who say things against group’s narrative
- and some people who are used to unearned and disproportionate power and privilege resent challenges to that and see it as an attack
